Gun reform supporters gather at Sequim Library By Erin Hawkins • September 26, 2018 1:30 am Stephen Paolini, campaign manager for “Yes” on Initiative 1639, center, with Port Angeles High School student Raven Sharpe and State Rep. Steve Tharinger (D-Port Townsend) looking on, addresses a crowd of supporters at the Sequim Library on Sept. 24. The initiative is a “comprehensive gun violence prevention measure” that will change the age to purchase semi-automatic assault rifles from 18-21, creates an enhanced background check to purchase semi-automatic assault rifles, creates secure storage practices, and makes buyers aware of risks associated with firearms. The measure goes to the General Election ballot on Nov. 6. Sequim Gazette photo by Erin Hawkins By Erin Hawkins Sequim Gazette
