The Olympic Medical Center Foundation raised a net $96,200 at its Harvest of Hope fundraising event Oct. 18 at Sunland Golf & Country Club in Sequim.

“We had record attendance and raised a record amount of money in sponsorship and in our auction,” said OMCF President Karen Rogers.

“Coupled with donations made throughout the year, we raised more money for our cancer center this year than ever before,” she said.

To date, the foundation has given over $1 million toward cancer care on the peninsula and over $2.4 million on or behalf of the hospital since 2007.

The event featured a gourmet dinner provided by Chef Katherine Kitts and featured wines from Olympic Cellars Winery of Port Angeles.

The 12th annual gala once again raised funds for local peninsula cancer patients being treated at Olympic Medical Cancer Center through the provision of services, programs and equipment.

The event also featured the presentation of the second Rick Kaps Award, given to Rose Crumb of Port Angeles in remembrance of the former Sequim High School coach and educator. The Seattle Cancer Care Alliance has been a partner with OMC in establishing a world class cancer facility since 2002.

“We are very grateful to our sponsors and thank everyone who attended and donated to help our fellow community members,” Rogers said.

Sponsors included presenting sponsor Seattle Cancer Care Alliance; platinum sponsors Extendicare (Sequim Health and Rehabilitation and Crestwood Health and Rehabilitation) and the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe/7 Cedars Casino; and gold sponsors Avamere, First Federal and Elekta.
