Partners unite over composites

Peninsula College and the Center of Excellence for Marine Manufacturing and Technology at Skagit Valley College have collaborated on a pilot project focused on the recycling and lifecycle of composite materials.

The two Washington state colleges — in partnership with the University of Alabama at Birmingham Materials Processing and Applications Development Center — have developed a three-credit course that can be replicated statewide.

The pilot class was offered at Peninsula College for five weeks during the 2013 spring quarter. Dr. Brian Pillay from UAB conducted the seminar and has continued to collaborate with P.C. instructor Norm Nelson.
