The Sequim Education Foundation has engineered another gift for the community.

Six weeks after their first Egg Drop Engineering Challenge – and distributing more than $8,000 in scholarships – foundation members delivered several dozen pocket calculators to the North Olympic Foster Parent Association last week.

The calculators, donated jointly by Sequim Education Foundation and Peninsula Ad Works, were earmarked for local children in foster care.

"They’ll make perfect Christmas stocking gifts for our teens at the holiday party," said

Colleen Robinson, of the foster association.

The North Olympic Foster Parent Association’s annual party, set for Dec. 5 at Sequim Community Church, provides seasonal gifts for nearly 150 local children who are placed for care in either relatives’ or foster parents’ homes.

The association also operates three "Care Closets" in Jefferson and Clallam counties, providing essentials for foster and adoptive children of all ages. For more information, contact association president Carol Pope at 681-6521.

Sequim Education Foundation is a local nonprofit public charity managed by an unpaid board of volunteers.
