Effective Dec. 2, the Port Angeles Social Security office at 138 W. First St., Port Angeles, will be open to the public from 9 a.m.-noon Monday-Friday. This is a change from the current hours of 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m.-noon on Wednesdays.

Agency employees will continue to work their regular hours. The significantly reduced funding provided by Congress does not allow the office to provide the additional staff needed to handle service to the public as it has done in the past. If members of the public prefer, they still can conduct business with Social Security by calling 800-772-1213 or by visiting the Social Security website at www.socialsecurity.gov.
