Weather permitting, state construction crews will implement a traffic shift on US Highway 101 on Friday, Sept. 12, at the east end of a work zone between Shore Road and Kitchen-Dick Road; a specific time has not yet been determined.

Prior to the traffic shift crews must restripe the roadway. In the event of rain, state officials said, the traffic shift will be postponed.

The shift will allow crews to continue paving the segment of US Highway 101 currently used by drivers. Crews will also build new median access points along the construction zone.

At the same time, construction crews are continuing efforts to build a new US 101 bridge spanning McDonald Creek. When complete, the bridge will carry two westbound lanes of traffic.

When the construction project is complete later this fall, US Highway 101 will be a continuous, four-lane facility with two lanes in each direction and a wide median between Sequim and Port Angeles.
