Wreck east of Sequim sends three to hospital

Washington State Patrol reports that three Sequim residents were transported to Olympic Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon following a wreck just east of Sequim.

According to a press memo, Yvonne Newton, 75, was driving north on Palo Alto Road around 2:17 p.m. Oct., 14 waiting to turn west onto U.S. Highway 101, while Paul Swisher, 46, and passenger Tamera Anderson, 47, were driving east on the highway in a 2018 Audi Q5.

Newton then allegedly drove into the intersection and struck the SUV.

State Patrol reports the wreck blocked the westbound lane and partially blocked the eastbound lane.

Clallam County Fire District 3 battalion chiefs report the highway was cleared and fully opened back up around 4 p.m.

Those involved were all wearing seatbelts, and no alcohol or drugs were involved, according to the State Patrol.

The drivers and passenger were all transported as precautionary measures, according to the fire district.

OMC staff report that Newton is in stable condition as of noon on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Both Swisher and Anderson were treated and released.
