Cross Country: Bloomenrader, Ellefson place fourth in final league meet

Sequim High seniors Colby Ellefson and Kaitlyn Bloomenrader placed fourth in their respective races in the fifth and final Olympic League meet of the season on Oct. 11, as squads prepare for the postseason that begins this week.

Ellefson covered the 5,000-meter course in Belfair in 17:11.36, helping the Wolves place fifth in the eight-team boys varsity race.

Bremerton’s Dallin Anderson edged Kingston’s Lucan Lenz by less than half a second for first, with Kingston’s Luke Whalen in third.

Reid Randall, a freshman, was Sequim’s No. 2 runner after placing 26th in 19:24.59. Fellow freshman Adrian Osborne was 31st (19:40.30) while SHS senior Solas McGruther was 33rd (19:50.77).

Kingston won the meet with 48 team points, followed by Bainbridge (65) and Olympic (108).

On the girls’ side, Bloomenrader took fourth in 24:10.94 behind North Kitsap’s Kendall Becker and Georgia Nelson and Olympic’s Brynn Fulton, but noted on athletic.net after the race that “everyone in this race got lost, [it’s a] very inaccurate time.”

The Wolves didn’t field enough girls to post a team score. Freshman Birdie Pyeatt )26:05.71), senior Krista Charters (26:52.73) and junior Lilly Despain (27:27.26) placed 30th, 31st and 32nd.

Bainbridge, a 3A school, placed first with 38 team points, followed by North Kitsap (48) and Olympic (51).
