‘Drive for the Cure’ tourney set for Sept. 16

Sunland Golf and Country Club is hosting its annual “Drive for the Cure” golf tournament and luncheon on Saturday, Sept. 16.

Funds raised from the tournament and lunch go to the Olympic Medical Center Foundation to help local women receive mammograms if they do not have insurance or the means to pay for them.

The tourney is a modified scramble with a 9 a.m. shotgun start for 18 holes of play and an 11 a.m. start time for those playing only nine holes.

Mixed teams of men and women are welcome and participants may sign up as a team of four or sign up individually as the pro shop will make up teams.

Cost is $42 for 18 holes and $32 for nine holes, with lunch included.

Cart rentals are $16 per seat for 18 holes, $10 for nine holes.

Non-golfers are encouraged to attend the luncheon which starts at 1 p.m.; cost for lunch only is $15.

An anonymous Sunland donor will match funds raised $1 for every $3 up to last year’s total and $1 for every $1 raised over that amount.

Fundraising avenues include: Mulligans and Magic Putts; a putting contest; raffles for gift baskets and donations with a suggested minimum of $25.
