Fastpitch: Wolves rout Knights, fall to Vikings

The Wolves got five solid innings on the mound from Hannah Bates — normally their starting shortstop — and a 17-hit attack in a 15-1, mercy rule-shortened home win over Bremerton on April 26.

Lily Fili was 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs, Bates was 3-for-4 with a triple and four runs scored, Katelyn Glass doubled twice and Christy Grubb and Jordan Kidd had two hits each in the win.

Grubb had three steals and Taylee Rome had two.

Bates allowed just two hits and three walks, striking out five.

Sequim out-scored the Knights 38-2 in their two league games.

The Wolves (5-5 in Olympic League play, 9-5 overall) dropped an 8-2 decision to North Kitsap on April 28 in Poulsbo. Sequim’s offense was limited to three singles and a walk.

Sequim stymies Spartans

Sequim got a great pitching performance from Angel Wagner and a home run and triple from Grubb in a 10-2 win over 3A Bainbridge on April 23.

Wagner pitched the entire game, allowing only one earned run on eight hits and two walks. She struck out four.

Grubb was 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI. Amelia Pozernick also had a double among her two hits, with a run scored and an RBI.

Fili had two hits and two RBIs, while Bates, Rome and Michaela Green all had a pair of hits.

Coming up

Sequim was scheduled to host North Mason on May 3. The Wolves are at Kingston on May 5 and host Olympic on May 10 before rounding out the regular season at Port Angeles on May 13.

The West Central 2A Bi-District tourney is set for May 20-21 in Lacey.
