While the rest of their classmates were on a break from classes, Sequim’s Wolves got a pair of tests in Olympic last week.

Sequim (4-3) split a pair of games against non-league foes at Kingston’s second-annual Battle of the Cove.

In the opener, Ella Christiansen and Jessica Dietzman each scored 12 points as the Wolves upended 4A Olympia, 33-25. Sequim held the Bears to just four points in the second quarter and two in the third.

Averie Stock led Olympia with 14 points.

In game two, Sammamish led by three points (11-8) after a quarter and held on for a 34-29 win over the Wolves.

Senior point guard Callie Jenckes led the Totems with 12 points.

Christiansen paced the Wolves with 13 points while Hope Glasser added six.

Looking ahead

Sequim was scheduled to take on rival Port Angeles at home on Jan. 3 — results were not available at press time.

The Wolves are at Neah Bay Jan. 4 before jumping back into Olympic League play, hosting North Mason on Jan. 6.

Sequim follows that with five consecutive road games: Jan. 10 at Coupeville, Jan. 13 at Bainbridge, Jan. 14 at Bainbridge (a makeup game after a winter storm postponed an early-season matchup), Jan. 17 at Olympic and Jan. 20 at North Kitsap.
