Girls swimming: Ellefson earns district qualifiers in loss at Bainbridge

A deep Bainbridge team won 11 out of 12 events in a 131-44 Olympic League meet victory at home over Sequim on Oct. 11.

Sequim’s Annie Ellefson was the Wolves’ lone event winner, taking the 100 breaststroke in 1:17.76, a district meet qualifying time.

She added a second district qualifier in the 200 free, placing second in 2:17.74.

Teammate Ava Shinkle also earned a district qualifying finish, placing second in the 50 free in 27.78.

SHS’s Natalie Cross was second in the 500 free (6:29.11).

In the meet’s closest race, Sequim’s 200 yard medley relay “A” squad edged the Spartans’ “B” team by one-hundredth of a second (2:10.48 to 2:10.49).

Looking ahead

Sequim is at Olympic (Silverdale) on Oct. 20. The Wolves are at the Last Chance Meet in Port Angeles on Oct. 25.

Qualifying swimmers compete at the West Central District 1A/2A bi-district meet scheduled for Nov. 3-4 at Mercer Island.
