The Klahhane Gymnastics teams concluded their regular season competition with a intrasquad meet for family and friends at Klahhane Gymnastics in Port Angeles on March 23, with gymnasts prepping for postseason competition.

In Level 6 competition, Kianna Miller of Sequim led the team with a 34.150 all-around points, picking up event scores of 9.2 on the balance beam and 9.15 on the floor exercise. Anne Edwards was a close second with 34.125 all-around points, scoring 9.1 on the floor exercise and an 8.625 on vault.

Emma Sharp of Sequim had the high score on floor exercise of 9.3. Zoe Smithson picked up a 8.575 score on vault and Sequim’s Gracie Sharp scored 9.1 points on balance beam.

All team members qualified for the Level 6 Optional State Meet at Everett Community College on March 29.

The Level 4 team participated in the fall compulsory season and were doing their first meet as Level 5 gymnasts. Sequim’s Kori Miller made a clean sweep of the awards, taking first in every event and all-around with a final score of 32.575 points, qualifying her to move to the Level 6 Optional Team for next season.

The entire Level 4 team — comprised of Morgan Mattix and Sequim’s Susannah Sharp, Jolene Vaara and Lainy Vig — performed well on new routines, coaches said.

The team will travel to the Garden City Meet in Victoria, B.C., in May.

In Level 3 Cindy Liang swept all four events, finishing with an all-around score of 35.750 points. Her effort include a 9.3 mark on vault and identical 9.0 scores on bars and the floor exercise.

Samantha Robbins scored a 34.4 all-around and Dylan Baremann rounded out the top three with 33.5 all-around points.

Also preparing for the North Sectional Competition on April 11 are Elena Gonzales and Sequim’s Kinzley Henrickson, Julia Jack and Taryn Johnson. The competition will be held at Northshore Gymnastics in Woodinville.

The Xcel Gymnasts are preparing for their State Competition April 25-26 at Everett Community College. Leading the Silver Division team was Maizie Tucker with a 35.3 all-around score and a 9.0 effort on bars. Also competing in the Silver Division at state are Sequim gymnasts Amber Dietzman, Summar Jules-Stranberg, Kelsie Mackey and Ellie Turner.

 

In the Gold Division, the top performer was Aiesha Matthis with a 9.0 score on vault and 33.675 all-around points.

Sequim’s Ennisa Albin, along with Julienne Jacobs and Cassidy Tamburro, also will represent the team at the state competition. State qualifiers in the Platinum Division are Cassii Middlestead and Sequim’s Danica Miller.
