Lincoln Park BMX to host USA BMX 2022 Gold Cup Finals

Lincoln Park BMX and Port Angeles Parks & Recreation announced recently the park will host the USA BMX 2022 Gold Cup Finals, set for Sept. 15-18.

The competition will include participants of all ages who will be here to compete in this Gold Cup Northwest Series and will be presented by DK Bikes.

Lincoln Park BMX representatives expect to see several local qualifiers for the finals line up and bring a total of 2,000 racers for three days of racing, with an expected attendance of 6,000-7,000 people to Port Angeles.

“Each year, we get to see countless smiling faces of our BMX riders as they practice and race,” Sean Coleman, Lincoln Park BMX track operator, said. “Much of this success is begins with the community and a variety of local businesses who pitch in. This support has allowed us to enhance our program and put us in a position to receive this Gold Cup Series.”

Lincoln Park BMX Association was established as a nonprofit in 2017.

Parks & Recreation director Corey Delikat said that, because of the dedicated hard work of Sean Coleman, volunteers and local businesses, the track has turned into one of the best outdoor tracks in the county.

“Because of this, and sponsorship from the Red Lion Hotel, we will be hosting a regional Gold Cup Series that will be welcoming thousands of people to our local economy for this event,” Delikat said.

“Lincoln Park BMX has been amazing to work with and, if not building a new outdoor BMX track wasn’t enough, they lead the charge for the new Pump Track at Erickson Playfield that will be finished in June.”
