Local gymnasts excel in Bellevue

The Klahhane Gymnastics Competitive Teams opened the winter season at The Battle in Bellevue, held Jan. 16-17 by Gymnastics East at the Meydenbauer Center.

The Klahhane Gymnastics Competitive Teams opened the winter season at The Battle in Bellevue, held Jan. 16-17 by Gymnastics East at the Meydenbauer Center.

The competition included competition in both the Junior Olympic and Xcel programs.

In Junior Olympic competition, Klahhane’s Level 6 team scored 105.7 and brought back a third-place trophy. Kianna Miller, competing in the Junior C age group (35.525 points), led the team scoring with 9.0 scores on vault and floor exercise and 8.95 on beam.

Individual medals in the Junior A age group went to Kori Miller, who earned second all around with 35.25 points, plus individual golds on vault and beam and silvers on bars and floor; Morgan Mattix (34.675 points), who was third all around and added bronze event medals on vault and floor; and Gracie Sharp (34.15 points), who finished sixth all around and picked up a silver medal on beam. Also competing in Junior A competition were Anne Edward (33.70 points) and Susannah Sharp (33.25 points). Emma Sharp scored a 33.65 in the Junior B age group.

Level 3 competitors were Madison Stockdale (33.75 points), who took sixth in the Senior D age group, Piper Allen (32.85 points) in the Senior B group and Waverly Mead (32.325 points) in Junior D group.

Level 4 competitors were Cindy Liang, who placed fourth in the Senior A group with 34.55 points, Samantha Robbins in the Senior B group (33.05 points) and Dylan Baermann in the Junior C group (32.275 points).

In the Xcel Competition, the Xcel Bronze Division Xcel team was led by Adisyn Ellis-Bourm who placed third all-around in the Junior C age group, scoring 36.50. Also competing were Clare Bowchop (34.175 points, Junior B); Jazlynn Purhmann (34.50 points) and Isabelle Pecoraro (33.85 points) in Junior C competition; Samantha Aranda with 34.95 points in Senior A competition, and Chloe Notari, scoring 34.25 points in the Senior B division.

Competitors in the Gold Division were Maizie Tucker, who took second on the balance beam (8.85) in the Junior B age group and Aiesha Mathis competing in the Senior C age group. In the Platinum Division, Cassii Middlestead was second on balance beam (9.1), second on uneven bars (8.85) and placed fourth all around (35.60). Danica Miller was fourth on beam (8.8) and fifth on vault (8.9).
