Senior Softball’s Grey Wolves start season this week

Sequim club members have open invite; men 55+, women 50+ eligible to play

Spring is finally here and Sequim’s Senior Softball Grey Wolves are in full “swing.”

Club members invite all players to come out and have a good time. The objectives of the club are “to foster, promote and encourage coed Senior Softball in the Sequim area, to promote good sportsmanship and to provide positive social interactions among the players,” according to the league’s bylaws.

More than 50 members from across the Olympic Peninsula (Sequim, Port Angeles, Port Townsend) gather at Carrie Blake Park each Tuesday and Thursday with warmup at 8:30 a.m., batting practice at 9 a.m. and games beginning at 10 a.m. Every skill level and everyone is accepted and encouraged.

The Grey Wolves are a coed league with age requirements of 55 plus for men and 50 plus for women.

The Grey Wolves are a recreational league with greatly varying skill levels, but also have a tournament team selected from the league members that travels and competes in Senior Softball tournaments in the area — such as the Washington State Senior Games and the Olympic Peninsula Senior Games. This October, the select team travels to St. George, Utah, to compete in the World Senior Games.
