Sequim equestrian relay team takes first at Tacoma meet

The Sequim High School Equestrian Team participated in the second meet of the 2012 season on Feb. 24-26 at Tacoma Unit facility in Spanaway.

Each Sequim competitor had at least one top-10 placing in individual events. Sequim’s In-Hand Obstacle Relay team took first place and Drill Working Fours team took second, just missing first place by a single point.

In individual events, Anne Meek and Christina Overby each earned four top-five finishes.

Other Sequim equestrian team members include Kat Afton, Matisen Anders, Kyla Gabriel, Justine Roads, Eilena Sharpe and Devyn Vining.

“Overall the team placed extremely well with only one district meet left,” Sequim coach Terri Winters said, noting that most team members have qualified for the state meet.
