Sequim Fling pickleball tourney sees big turnout

Plenty of pickling going on here.

More than 230 players reportedly registered for the Sequim Fling by PIG pickleball tournament, held June 23-25 at Carrie Blake Community Park.

Players from at least nine states (seven from Oregon, five from California) as well as players from British Columbia were signed up to play in men’s, women’s and mixed divisions, from skill levels 3.0 and under to 4.5 and above.

Sequim winners included: Randall Anderson and Kendal Wake in the men’s 4.0 (50-plus and 60-plus divisions); Andrew Gullickson, who teamed with George Vaughan-Wynn of Bainbridge in the men’s 3.5 (ages 13-49 division); Curt Haugen, who teamed with Mika Nel to win the mixed 4.0-plus (ages 19-49 division); Cris Gonzalez and Timothy Williams, who won the 3.0-and-under (ages 57 and older division); Michael Nizic, who teamed with Mallory Milligan of Bremerton to win the mixed 4.0 (ages 14-59); Libby Hartman and Terri Wiebe, who won the women’s 3.5 (ages 50-plus and under 70 divisions); Abigail Berg, who teamed with Port Angeles Jennie Webber Heilman to win the women’s 3.0-and-under (ages 60-69), and Kimberly Nizic, who with Port Angeles’ Colleen Alger won the women’s 4.0 division.
