Sea Hawkers meet, Little league opens hits weekend, and more sports events in Sequim.

Sea Hawkers to meet

Chances to win an autographed Seahawks football is up for grabs at the April meeting of the Olympic Peninsula Sea Hawkers. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. at the 7th Avenue Steakhouse, 271 S. Seventh Ave., Sequim, on Thursday, April 9.

The Olympic Peninsula Chapter is open to all.

Seahawks fans from the entire Olympic Peninsula, including Jefferson County. Some of the upcoming events include the Richard Sherman Celebrity Softball Tournament, All Chapter Barbecue and Seahawks Training Camp. Each meeting that members attend they earn a ticket to go into the annual drawing for the football.

Little league opener

Sequim Little League will hold opening ceremonies for the 2015 season from 9-11 a.m. on April 11, at the Sequim Little League fields located at James Standard Park on West Silberhorn Road.

Games are scheduled to begin following opening ceremonies that day at 11 a.m. See www.sequimlittleleaguecom.

SkyRidge’s Spring Opener set

SkyRidge Golf Course hosts the Spring Opener, a two-person scramble, starting at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11. Cost is $70 per team; fee includes range balls, KPs and lunch. Carts are $15 per seat. The course is at 7015 Old Olympic Highway. Call 683-3673.

Equestrians host      exhibition night

The Sequim Equestrian team hosts an exhibition event from 3-4:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, at Freedom Farms, 403 Spring Road, Port Angeles. The public is welcome to the free event, where team members showcase events, answer questions, thank sponsors and accept donations. For more information, call Katie at 775-0350.

A halibut how-to

The Puget Sound Anglers’ North Olympic Peninsula Chapter meeting set for April 16 features John Beath, an expert fisherman, guide and club member. Halibut fishing season opens May 8 in fishing area 6, eastern Strait of Juan de Fuca. How to fish for halibut in this area will be the topic of discussion. Beath will share his wealth of knowledge about how, when and where to catch halibut during this 11-day season. He also offers fishing advice through his Internet sites.

Slowpitch leagues to start in Port Angeles

The Port Angeles Parks and Recreation Department hosts men’s and women’s slowpitch leagues, with seasons beginning April 24. Cost is $525 per team plus individual player fees.
