The biggest fundraiser for the Sequim High School football team is back and once again the Wolves are going gold.

The 2015 Gold Cards that feature discounts to a number of area businesses make their debut at the Rotary Club of Sequim’s Salmon Bake, set for noon-4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 9, at the Sequim Boys & Girls Club (400 W. Fir St.).

Starting Wednesday, Aug. 19, cards are distributed to the Sequim High football players and are available for purchase.

The program culminates on Saturday, Aug. 29, with “Blitz Day” — where the players don their jerseys and from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. sell cards outside local establishments and in local neighborhoods.

The $20 gold cards contain discounts that can be used repeatedly throughout the year.

“People look forward to these all year,” SHS head football coach Erik Wiker said.

“The profits that these cards generate go a long way in helping to purchase safety equipment, uniforms and help fund summer camps,” SHS athletic director Dave Ditlefsen said.

“We’ve run out of cards the past two years and we hope to do it again this year,” program coordinator Kathy Schock said. “The kids do a wonderful job getting out in the community to sell, the local merchants always make sure we have great deals and the community support has been fantastic.”

If you miss out on purchasing a card from one of the football players, call or text Schock at 477-5070 during the span of the program. Any residual cards may be purchased from the Sequim High School main office after Sept. 17.

Merchants on the 2015 Gold Card include Anytime Fitness, Black Bear Diner, The Cracked Bean Coffee Company, Dairy Queen, Domino’s, Gabby’s Java and Gourmet Grub, Hurricane Coffee Company, Jiffy Lube, Jose’s Famous Salsa, Moon Palace Restaurant, Oak Table Cafe, Papa Murphy’s, Reef Tanning, Smuggler’s Landing, Sunshine Cafe and Westside Pizza.
