Audubon group meets tonight

The Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society hosts its monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on May 20 at the Dungeness River Audubon Center at Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road.

The speaker is Fred Weinmann, president of the Washington Native Plant Society-Olympic Chapter.

The title of his presentation is "Native Plants of the Olympic Peninsula with Emphasis on the Wilderness Within."

The meeting and presentation are free.

Storm King soccer tryouts set

Tryouts for several Storm King select soccer teams are scheduled for this week.

All tryouts are at the Agnew soccer fields at the southeast corner of Old Olympic Highway and North Barr Road.

On May 20, U-15 and girls U-14 tryouts are at 4 p.m. followed by U-12 and U-13 team tryouts at 5 p.m.

On May 21, U-11 and boys U-15 tryouts are at 4 p.m.

Anglers host Coast Guard, deputies

Members from the North Olympic Peninsula Chapter of Puget Sound Anglers host representatives from the U.S. Coast Guard and the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office at their meeting at 6:45 p.m., May 21 at Trinity United Methodist Church on Blake Avenue.

The anglers’ guests are scheduled to discuss their interaction with each other and the boating public.

Explorers take to Dungeness Spit

The Olympic Peninsula Explorers invite the public to the club’s Dungeness Spit Club Walk on May 23.

Club members walk by bluffs overlooking the Strait of Juan de Fuca through meadows and out onto the Dungeness Spit.

You can choose between a 3.1 mile or 6.2 mile walk. No pets. The group meets at QFC, 990 E. Washington St. to sign in by 9 a.m., then carpools to the start of the walk.

Avalanche

takes third

The Olympic Avalanche select girls basketball squad finished in third place at the fifth-annual Tiger Classic in Burlington May 16-17.

Olympic lost a 34-24 decision to Northsound Elite on the semifinals, then rebounded for a 36-20 win against Sumner.

SARC offers Pilates, Yoga classes

The Sequim Aquatic recreation center is offering two separate classes, Pilates and yoga, on Monday and Friday mornings beginning in June.

The Pilates class is on Monday and Friday from 7:15-8:15 a.m. Pass-holder price for the month of June is $24.75; non-pass holder price for the month is $92.25.

An Introduction to Yoga class is slated for Monday and Friday from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Pass-holder price for the month of June is $24.75; non pass-holder price for the month is $92.25.
