Golf for softball tourney set, rock climbing class offered at Peninsula College and Sequim resident Chad Wagner sank his first hole-in-one.

Golf for Softball tourney set

Raise funds for the Sequim High School softball/fastpitch program at the Golf for Softball tournament, set for a 9 a.m. start Saturday, March 7, at SkyRidge Golf Course, 7015 Old Olympic Highway. Check-in is 8 a.m.

Cost is $50 per person. Fee includes 18 holes of golf, range balls and lunch. Carts are $30 each. Funds raised help the SHS team pay for equipment, hotel accommodations and travel expenses. The tourney has an 18-team maximum.

Rock climbing class offered at college

Peninsula College Community Education offers new class, Introduction to Rock Climbing (Class number N195). Participants will learn the basics of rock climbing and familiarize themselves with basic climbing equipment, concepts and safety.

The class will include belaying a climber on top rope, body positioning and “technique and route finding” on a wall or boulder. There is an optional outing to Island Rock Gym in Bainbridge to obtain belay certificate (cost for transportation and entry fee is not included in class price).

The class runs March 23-31 on Mondays and Tuesdays from 6:30-9:30 p.m. at Sound Bikes and Kayaks, 120 E. Front St. in Port Angeles. Cost is $150.

First hole-in-one

Chad Wagner of Sequim sank his first hole-in-one on Feb. 21 at The Cedars at Dungeness. Wagner used a wedge club to ace the 124-yard hole No. 8 at The Cedars. Frank Erickila and John Hickman, both of Redmond, witnessed the feat.
