Firefighters from Clallam County Fire District 3 climbed 69 floors of stairs and 1,356 steps to raise money for blood-cancer research and patient services.

This year, Fire District 3 raised $3,933 for the cause.

Six firefighters from Fire District 3 participated in the annual Scott Firefighter Stairclimb fundraiser on Sunday, March 12, that raises money through sponsorships, individual and department fundraising and entry fees to support the mission of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Capt. Bryan Swanberg, firefighter/paramedic Neil Borggard, firefighter/EMT Lee Forderer, firefighter/paramedic Stefanie Anderson, volunteer firefighter Lee Oman and Lt. Chad Cate participated in this year’s event. Forderer’s son Conner also helped firefighters switch out bottles at the 40th floor.

Firefighters from all over the world travel to participate in this event that requires participants to climb the steps up to the observation deck of Seattle’s Columbia Center in full structural firefighter gear and on air.
