The Petals and Pathways Home Garden Tour, sponsored by the Master Gardener Foundation of Clallam County, will highlight a variety of garden styles at seven Sequim-area homes from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 24.
Five city lots, showcasing gardening in small spaces, as well as two one-acre properties featuring private outdoor living spaces, reflect the personality of each of the homeowners on the tour.
Tour goers will experience newly evolving gardens, ranging from 12 years to 12 months old, where homeowners have transformed barren weedy lots and flat, grassy fields into inviting, productive landscapes.
Unique varieties of Japanese maples, willows, laurels and conifers provide backdrops for hydrangea, rose, grass and sedum collections and other colorful perennials. Vegetables, herbs, berries, grapes and fruit trees also are integrated into the tour.
Landscape features include raised beds and lasagna gardening, dry streambeds, modest water features and an extraordinary array of imaginative garden art.
Tickets for the self-guided tour include descriptions of each garden and driving instructions. The gardens may be visited in any order. Three of the gardens are located in one neighborhood, providing easy access from one parking location. Each garden will be marked by a hot pink banner.
Tickets, $15 prior to the tour, are on sale from local Master Gardeners and at the WSU Extension office, Airport Garden Center, Green House Nursery, and Port Book and News, in Port Angeles; Over the Fence, Peninsula Nursery, Sunny Farms and Nash’s in Sequim; and Wild Birds Unlimited in Gardiner, and at brownpaperticketstickets.com.
Tickets will be $20 on the day of the tour.
Proceeds from the tour help to maintain local demonstration gardens on Woodcock Road, west of Sequim and Fifth Street in Port Angeles and gardening education programs throughout Clallam County.
