4-H offers interactive classes for youths

In August, Clallam County 4-H offers two upcoming classes for area youths.

A “4-H Pickle Making Day” with instructor Betsy Wharton of Clallam Canning Company is set for 9:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7, in Port Angeles. Youth ages 8-18 can participate. Learn the basic science and craft of making pickles. Participants will have the opportunity to enter the pickles they make in the Clallam County Fair.

A “4-H Floral Design Class” with the WSU Master Gardeners is offered from 10 a.m.-noon Thursday, Aug., 10, at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden in Sequim. The class is open to all youths of ages 5-18. Participants learn about flower varieties and tips and tricks for floral design. Youth will create up to three floral arrangements to enter in the Clallam County Fair.
