The weekend’s good weather made for a great backdrop for local young equestrians at the 4-H “friendzy,” the Neon Riders’ 4-H horse show and Pre-Fair, held July 14-16 at the Clallam County Fairgrounds.

July 14 saw Neon Riders put on a games show while July 15 was an equitation/performance show and July 16 hosted pre-fair pleasure events.

“We had good weather and Saturday night was a great potluck and fun games for kids and horses,” Katie Salmon Newton said.

High-point winners from the July 15 competition included:

Walk/Trot — Champion, Paige Reed; Reserve Champion, Heidi Leitz

Maiden (beginners) — Champion, Sierra Steffen; Reserve Champion, Taylor Maughan

Juniors — Champion, Madison Heistand

Intermediates — Champion, Katie Marshant; Reserve Champion, Ruby Coulson

Seniors — Champion, Emily Gear; Reserve Champion, Emily Menshew
