Gateway Mortgage celebrates grand opening in Sequim

Sequim community members and business owners celebrated the grand opening of Gateway Mortgage Group, 901-B W. Washington St., last Friday with a special ribbon cutting.

Staff members cut the ribbon on March 9 for the Sequim-Dungeness Chamber of Commerce and celebrated with food, drinks and giveaways.

The office operated under Cherry Creek Mortgage for five years until switching to Oklahoma-based Gateway Mortgage Group on Nov. 1, 2017.

Deon Kapetan, branch manager, said her staff felt joining Gateway was a great fit for their clients.

“We’re glad to be part of the community,” she said.

With the surge in real estate in the past year, Kapetan said they’ve “been slammed and very appreciative” of locals’ business.

Sequim’s Gateway Mortgage Group features four staffers including Kapetan, Jennifer Sweeney, Stephanie Sweet and Amy Phillips.
