Firefighters with Clallam County Fire District 3 quickly extinguished a brush fire Friday afternoon.

They responded around 4:45 p.m. July 19 just south of the Suncrest Senior Apartments complex off South Sunnyside Avenue to find the approximate 20-feet-by-20-feet.

Firefighters said recent rainfall kept the grass wet so it didn’t travel as much.

Nearby residents report hearing a pop noise before seeing the flames but the cause of the fire remains unknown, firefighters say.
