Create a batik with NOLS Zoom program

As part of the Summer Reading Program, the North Olympic Library System presents “Create a Colorful Batik.” Adults and teens are invited to create their own one-of-a-kind batik design inspired by this year’s Summer Reading Program theme: “Reading Colors Your World.” The project uses gel glue, tempera paint and cotton fabric, instead of hot wax and dye. The history of batik as an art form will be presented during the program.

Registration is required at nols.org/create-a-colorful-batik to receive the Zoom link and to reserve supply kit (one kit per household). Kits are available for pickup at library branches this week.

The program for teens and adults is held in two sessions over two nights. Session one, set for 6:30-8 p.m. on both on Monday, July 19 (“Plan and design your project” and session two on Wednesday, July 21 (“Color your design with paint”).

Sign up for the Summer Reading Program at nols.org/srp or at a local library. For every 30 days patricipants read, they get an into the Grand Prize Drawing (up to two entries) for either a $100 gift card to a local book store or restaurant or a LEGO set (up to $100 in value).
