Sequim Gazette file photo by Matthew Nash/ Visitors align a photo-op at Washington Lavender Farm in July 2020. The farm hosts its free festival for two weeks with vendors from July 8-17 as many farms, community groups and businesses prepare events for Sequim Lavender Weekend July 15-17.

Lavender season is upon Sequim.

Most farms are open now, with festivities beginning at one farm this weekend — Washington Lavender Farm’s two-week festival July 8-17 at 965 Finn Hall Road — and more to come across the area during Sequim Lavender Weekend July 15-17 and through the summer.

Following last year’s festivities, many farmers reported an improved turnout after seeing a downturn the year before due to COVID-19 and event restrictions. Various varieties of lavender are beginning to bloom across the area.

This year, more activities have been added and/or brought back, including the Sequim Lavender Festival Street Fair on July 15-17 in Carrie Blake Community Park, barn dances July 15-16 at Victor’s Lavender Farm, 3743 Old Olympic Highway, and the Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Show on July 16 at Pioneer Memorial Park, 387 E. Washington St.
