Clallam County Fire District 3 fought and extinguished a garage fire north of Sequim on Sunday, May 19. They blaze also destroyed a trailer.

Battalion Chief Elliott Jones said a homeowner on Gaskell Farm Road called 9-1-1 after discovering his roof at 4:23 p.m. pouring out smoke.

Firefighters fought the fire from a defensive fire attack mode, Jones said, as the 300-400 foot building was fully involved and about 15-20 feet from the main house.

They extinguished the fire in about 25 minutes, Jones said.

Its cause is under investigation.

One firefighter suffered a sprained ankle during the event and was transported to Olympic Medical Center, Jones said.
