Local riders vie for titles at annual 4-H Horse Show

Local equestrians put on a show for top awards once again at the Neon Riders and Silver Spurs 4H Horse Show, held July 12-14 at the Clallam County Fairgrounds in Port Angeles.

“We had a great time and the kids worked hard,” coach Katie Salmon-Newton said. “They enjoyed showing, visiting, playing games, and eating together.”

Alumni 4-Hers helped with organizing entries (Ava Hairell), announcing (Taylor Maughan), ring stewarding (Abby Garcia) judging (Jessica Parks-Welch) and much more, Salmon-Newton noted.

In the Performance division, High Point winners included:

Senior Champion — Katelyn Sharpe; Senior Reserve Champion — Rae Skerbeck

Intermediate champion — Kenzi Winters; Intermediate Reserve Champions (tie) — Paisley Morris and Elise Sirguy

Walk/Trot Champion — Gwen Torey; Walk/Trot Reserve Champions (tie) — Adley Church and Abigail Daly

Novice Champion — Madalyn Loukes

Helping Hand winner — Wes Church

Games High Point winners were

Champion — Kenzi Winters; Reserve Champions (tie) — Savannah Boulton and Lacey Thompson
