This summer marks an exciting new chapter for the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Olympic Peninsula, and we want you to be part of it.
Whether you walked through the doors of the Carroll C. Kendall Club in Sequim, the Turner Unit in Port Angeles, or any Boys & Girls Club across the country, we’re calling on all alumni to reconnect with us as we launch our Club Alumni Association. Our inaugural event, featuring music performed by Club alumna Pearle Peterson, will take place on Aug. 6 on the patio at 7 Cedars Hotel, and we invite every former Club member to join us!
Why now? Because the impact of a Boys & Girls Club experience doesn’t end when a member graduates or moves on. It lives on in the values they carry, the lives they build, and the communities they serve. And now, more than ever, as we look forward to celebrating our 40th anniversary in 2027, our current members need to see and feel the power of that lifelong connection. Our Alumni Association will be more than just a reunion, it will become a movement rooted in mentorship, community, and purpose.
Mentorship, role modeling
When young people see someone who once sat in the same games room, created projects in the same art room, or needed the same encouragement, it makes a difference. Alumni can be incredible mentors, showing today’s members what’s possible when you stay focused, dream big, and work hard. Your story — no matter where life has taken you — is one worth sharing.
Community building
Our Alumni Association will be a space where bonds are rebuilt, and new ones are formed. Whether you’re a Club kid from the ’60s or the class of 2025, your shared experiences at the Club connect you to a broader family of support and belonging. Through gatherings, service projects, and social events, we aim to strengthen the fabric of our Club community — one alum at a time.
Legacy
You are part of the Club’s legacy. By joining the Alumni Association, you help preserve the traditions, stories, and spirit that have defined our Club over the years. That legacy is vital to inspiring future generations and honoring those who paved the way.
Advocacy, visibility
Alumni are our most powerful ambassadors. Your story is living proof that the Club works. When you speak up about how the Club shaped your life, you elevate our mission and help make the case for support at local, state, and national levels.
Volunteerism, program support
Remember that coach, tutor, or staff member who believed in you? Now it’s your turn. Alumni can return as volunteers or guest speakers — bringing authentic, lived experiences into our programs in ways that truly resonate with today’s members.
Career networking, opportunities
The Alumni Association will also serve as a network of professionals across industries. You can open doors for teens seeking internships, job shadowing, or guidance on their career paths. It’s a way to give back that creates ripples of impact far beyond what you might imagine. Whether you want to assist at events or serve on a committee this is a platform for you to lead — and grow — while giving back.
Recruitment, retention
When families see former Club members thriving, it reinforces the value of Club membership. Your involvement helps attract new families and shows our young people that being a “Club kid” is something to be proud of for life.
Financial support
Many alumni feel a deep gratitude for what the Club gave them. By coming together, you can help ensure that future generations have access to the same life-changing opportunities.
Whether it’s a one-time donation, sponsoring an event, or connecting us to your employer’s giving initiatives, your support can shape the future for countless kids.
We’re just getting started — and we can’t do it without you.
If you were ever a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs in Sequim, Port Angeles, or anywhere else in the country, we want to hear from you. Please contact the Club at 360-683-8095 or email us at info@bgc-op.org to learn more about the Alumni Association and RSVP for our August event.
Let’s come together to celebrate where we came from — and help shape where the next generation is going.
We can’t wait to welcome you back.
