Great Decisions meeting

The Sequim Great Decisions monthly discussion group for July will focus on the topic “International Climate Cooperation in an Era of Geopolitical Turmoil.”

The discussion will be led by Judy Wagner and will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, July 11 in the Adult Learning Center at Sequim Community Church, 950 N. Fifth Ave.

Death Cafe events

“Tea to Die For,” Death Cafe events sponsored by Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County, are set for Monday, July 14, in Sequim and Wednesday, July 23, in Port Angeles, both from 4-5:30 p.m.

The Sequim discussion will be held in the KSQM-FM Community Room, 609 W. Washington St., No. 17, while the Port Angeles talk will be held in VHOCC’s conference room, 829 E. Eighth St.

The groups are free and do not require prior registration.

Death Cafe is an international movement of hosting informal gatherings for the simple purpose of discussing death. Conversations are held every second Monday in Sequim and every fourth Wednesday in Port Angeles.

Ice cream social

The Sequim Prairie Grange is partnering with the Sequim Wheelers, another local nonprofit organization, for this month’s Ice Cream Social. It will take place from 1-3 p.m. on Sunday, July 13, at the Sequim Prairie Grange, located at 290 Macleay Road.

For $7, you can choose between a sundae or a banana split, with part of the proceeds benefiting the Sequim Wheelers.

Free legal help

On Saturday, July 19, Clallam-Jefferson County Pro Bono Lawyers will present a virtual legal aid clinic, a free program offering legal advice for members of the public. One-time consultations will be offered via telephone or Zoom.

Legal aid clinics are geared to help those who are financially unable to otherwise access a lawyer. Attorney volunteers will be available from 10 a.m. to noon to answer legal questions pertaining to civil matters, direct people to local services that might be able to assist them, and explain the legal process to them.

Clients must pre-register by calling 360-504-2422 or emailing probonomary2@gmail.com People are asked to register no later than Friday, July 11.

Once registered, additional directions for the event will be provided. Attendees are also encouraged to have relevant legal documents with them during consultation(s).

Beavers program

Beavers Northwest will give a free community presentation called “Co-existing with Beavers” at 7 p.m. on Friday, July 18 as part of the Sunset Speaker Series at the Dungeness River Nature Center, 1943 W. Hendrickson Road in Sequim.

The presentation will help raise general awareness of beaver ecology and benefits to the ecosystem.
