Two new pedestrian bridges were delivered to Carrie Blake Community Park on Thursday, July 24.
City staff closed most parking in the Water Reuse Demonstration Site and Albert Haller Playfields that day for safety concerns with the bridges delivered in the afternoon and placed by the park’s horseshoe pits.
City staff said an older bridge along the Olympic Discovery Trail will be replaced, and another will be added further up Bell Creek and placed at a date to be determined once a permit is obtained from the Department of Fish and Wildlife.
Four bridges were budgeted in the city’s budget in 2024 for $350,000, but city staff adjusted the budget to $180,000 for manufacturing two bridges both wide enough for a mower.
