A selection of about 140 baked goods brought in just over $4,000 during the annual All-Grange Dessert Auction held Saturday, Nov. 15 at Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road.
Members of Cub Scout Pack 4490 assisted with the event, carrying treats to winning bidders.
Items auctioned off by auctioneer Dave McDaniels included cookies, cupcakes, breads, jelly, pies and ever-popular cinnamon rolls made by Tammy Robinson. Robinson’s cinnamon rolls go for high-dollar prices. Last year, a fan paid a whopping $180 for a pan of the treats, and this year the highest bid for cinnamon rolls was $150 — the second-highest bid of the day.
The highest bid, according to Sequim Prairie Grange spokesperson Sherrie Cerutti, was $165 for a triple-layer carrot cake.
Twenty-five of the items were marked to benefit Clallam Pomona Jr. Grange Camp.
The remainder of the proceeds were distributed equally to the five Olympic Peninsula granges: Sequim, Dry Creek, Crescent, Quimper and Fairview. The mission of granges is to assist the community with legislative resolutions and to support community nonprofit organizations, high schools, hospice and more.
“We are extremely grateful to all the bakers and to our wonderful community for coming together and making the Auction a sweet success,” Cerutti wrote in an email to the Sequim Gazette following the event.
