The weekly blotter includes incidents that occurred in the City of Sequim and in unincorporated Clallam County in the Sequim-Dungeness Valley area.

From Jan. 24-31, Clallam County Fire District 3 responded to 182 incidents.

Firefighters report that with colder weather, locals can expect an increase in residential burning and they’ve seen an increase in burn complaints.

They remind locals that residential fires are defined as burning of leaves, clippings, pruning debris and other yard and gardening refuse originating on the maintained area of residential property (e.g. lands immediately adjacent and in close proximity to a human dwelling) and burned on such lands by the property owner and/or other responsible person.

Winter burn regulations are in effect through April 30 with residential burn piles allowed up to 10’ x 10’ x 5’ in size between sunrise and sunset.

The fire district does not require a burn permit, and if there is a neighbor complaint, they ask that you request law enforcement.
