DISTRICT
The next school board meeting is 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 4, in the district boardroom, 503 N. Sequim Ave. The public is invited to attend, and time is set aside for public comment. To view the agenda and minutes of past meetings, click on “Board of Directors” on the district’s website at www.sequim.k12.wa.us.
The school district’s Comprehensive Needs Assessment survey is open for comment. This survey asks households located in the school district service area to share opinions about daily operations (i.e. those needing improvement and those working effectively), as well as the district’s plans for the future. Any Sequim household can take the survey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/CNA1819 from now through Dec. 13.
GREYWOLF ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
NatHalie Maynock’s fifth grade language arts class recently took the Kids at Hope Pledge and customized it to make their own pledge:
I am Landon.
I am a kid at hope.
I am deductive, social and funny.
I have dreams for the future.
To share my poems with the world,
To have a successful career,
To be a hard-working wood worker.
I will climb to reach those dreams by
Earning money, learn new and old languages,
Buy and get a passport and to be creative.
Study something I like,
Be a hard-worker, and earn money.
Study techniques, earn money, and be resourceful,
And to be smart with tools.
I am capable of success

I am most definitely a kid at hope.
I am curious, brilliant And the second weirdest person you could ever meet.
I have dreams for the future, (a thousand ones, but here’s a few)
Get a job that I enjoy,
Design a house,
And become a better writer. Bam!
I will climb to reach those goals by,
Educations, dedication,
Saving money, Planning, Research,
Positivity, Practice, hard work.

I am a kid at hope. I am knowledgeable, sympathetic and enlightened.
I have dreams for my future, such as;
Becoming a billionaire, becoming stronger than I am now,
and to be a well-experienced pastor.

On a well-paying job, by working out, and by studying the bible.

Brayan Rayon
HELEN HALLER ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
First-graders from Christine MacDougall-Danielson’s class are enjoying the engaging Bella and Rosie books! Thanks to the generosity of the Beta Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a community education grant titled, “Fluency Success with Early Readers” was awarded to the reading specialist Betsy Smith. First grade and Kindergarten classrooms were given these wildly popular books. Thank you Beta Nu!
Students in Patrick Caron’s fourth grade class work on their critical and analytical reading skills by reading the newspaper every Wednesday. Newspaper articles are a great way to build comprehension skills. Students read current community events and share their thoughts and opinions. All the students have fun looking for pictures of friends and relatives. Javelin Rouque says he loves the sporting good ads and Elaina challenges herself with the crossword puzzles!

SEQUIM HIGH SCHOOL
The ASVAB Career Exploration Test will be offered from 8:15 a.m.-12:15 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, in the high school library. There is no fee. Sign up in the counseling office.
