Green Thumb Series explores tropical fruits

WSU Clallam County Master Gardener Bev Morrow will talk about how to grow and maintain various types of tropical fruits and plants in the local climate at noon, Thursday, March 22, in the county commissioners’ meeting room at the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St., Port Angeles.
The presentation is part of the Clallam County Master Gardeners’ Green Thumb Series.
Morrow produces lemons, limes and bananas at 800 feet of elevation in Clallam County, and will share tips for growing Myer lemon and lime trees, hardy banana trees, olive trees, pomegranates, bird of paradise, colocasia, pineapple guava and hibiscus in Plant Hardiness Zone 8 growing conditions.
She will focus on quality soils, basic fertilizing, watering and pruning for growing these tropical plants in containers.
After completing the King County Master Gardener training program in 2012, Morrow went on to specialize in rain garden design, ethnobotany of Washington state native plants and forest restoration.
She has been a Clallam County Master Gardener since 2017.
