Feiro director to talk science education at Sequim Science Café event

Melissa Williams, Executive Director of the Feiro Marine Science Center in Port Angeles, provides some insight into the evolution of science education at the next Science Café, set for 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at Paradise Restaurant, 703 N. Sequim Ave.
Williams came to Feiro center in May 2014 after seven years at the John G. Shedd Aquarium in Chicago for seven years — most recently as the Vice President of Learning.
A lifelong informal science education professional, she has also held positions at the University of Arizona’s Flandrau Science Center in Tucson and the Adler Planetarium, Chicago.
Her academic background includes an undergraduate degree in psychology from New College, Fla., focused on animal cognition and behavior, and a master’s degree in instructional leadership from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Seating is limited, so attendees are asked to arrive early, particularly if they intend to have dinner prior to the presentation.
Hosted by the Sequim Education Foundation, Science Café is a monthly event provided by the Sequim Education Foundation, September through May. All financial contributions received at the events are applied to the group’s STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) teaching grants.
