Construction activity has closed Towne Road and the Dungeness Levee Trail, Clallam County staff said last week.

Towne Road and the adjacent Dungeness Levee Trail are currently closed due to construction activity, county officials said last week.

A road and levee trail closure is in effect between milepost 2.78 at Dungeness Schoolhouse and milepost 1.98 at Dungeness Valley Creamery at the Lower Dungeness River Floodplain Restoration Project site.

“We want to keep the public safe while the project enters into a phase of accelerated construction,” Clallam County engineer Joe Donisi said.

Towne Road will remain closed until Sept. 30, 2023, or until it has been determined the road is safe for public use.

Public access for walking, birding and passive enjoyment will be restored as soon as possible, according to a press release.
