Orchards in spotlight in Sequim garden’s final 2022 ‘walk-about’

It’s harvest time throughout the Sequim-Dungeness Valley — and at the Woodcock Demonstration Garden.

Learn more about fruit orchard gardens and more at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 6, at the demonstration garden, 2711 Woodcock Road, at this, the final “walk-about” of 2022.

Master Gardener Bruce Pape is the team leader of the garden’s orchards and Valerie Bowers heads up the espalier orchard garden.

Attendees are invited to see the 20-plus varieties of apples, four pear trees, two peach trees and three cherry tree varieties. Master Gardeners will talk about the differences in apples.

In other areas of the gardens, vegetables are being harvested for the Sequim Food Bank.

Attendees are encouraged to pick up a self -guided tour brochure to help navigate the gardens alongside the presenters.

The Woodcock Demonstration Garden is a 2.74-acre site that has been in operation for 35 years and is open to the public for educational purposes.
