CORRECTED: 2024 Run the Peninsula series to kick off with Elwha Bridge 5k/10k

Runners joggers and walkers, it’s time to lace up those shoes for the 2024 Run the Peninsula Series.

The annual five-event series kicks off this year with the Elwha Bridge 5k/10k, set for 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 3, on the Elwha River pedestrian bridge, with an out-and-back course along the Olympic Discovery Trail.

Title sponsors for the race are the Sequim Gazette and Peninsula Daily News. Presenting sponsors include Olympic Medical Center and the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe.

Bib pickups are available from 4:30-6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 2, at Angeles Brewing Supplies & Taproom, 116 N. Lincoln St. Port Angeles, and on race day starting at 7:30 a.m. at the race start/finish area at Elwha River Road.

Cost is $40 for either 5k or 10k race. Fee includes race swag, including a Run the Peninsula massage ball kit, medal and race bib. Register at runthepeninsula.com/elwha-bridge.

All participants will have official timed results and free professional race photos. Results and photos will be available to check online after the race.

Awards will be presented to the overall male and female for each race and first, second and third place finishers for males and females in each age division. Winners must be present to receive awards, as they will not be mailed.

There is no parking at the start/finish area; participants can be dropped off on the west side of Elwha Bridge on Elwha River Road. (There is a limited amount of handicapped parking at the bottom of Crown Z Water Road off of Elwha River Road.)

Shuttles will be provided to all participants and spectators who park at Xtreme Sports Park, 2917 W. Edgewood Dr., Port Angeles. Shuttles will start running at 7:15 a.m. and run throughout the event, with buses departing every 15 minutes.
