City seeks entries for ‘Illuminations’ art exhibit

The City Arts Advisory Commission (CAAC) is seeking entries of art in any medium for “Illuminations,” the next exhibit to be displayed in the lobby of the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., this fall.

This theme is a celebration of how light is portrayed in painting, used as a shadow element dancing over sculptures and projected through colored glass or from neon or LED works. As long as the artwork somehow “highlights” light, exhibit organizers say, it fits the theme.

Deadline for submissions is 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9.

Only digital applications will be considered. To enter, complete the form at form.jot form.com/92465220039150, one that allows submitting artists to download up to three images (preferably 300 dpi).

All entries will be juried by the CAAC on Dec. 12 and artists will be notified of their status on Dec. 13.

An artist’s reception is set for 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 3, 2020, and the exhibit will be on display until March 27, 2020.

For complete entry guidelines and exhibit information, visit the City of Sequim website at www.sequimwa.gov/694/Call-for-Artists, pick up a flyer at the Civic Center or contact arts coordinator Cyndi Hueth at chueth@sequimwa.gov or 360-582-2477.
