Clallam County enables launching of Collaborative Learning Academy

The Clallam Resilience Project announced in early June the launching of a 2022-23 Collaborative Learning Academy.

Funded by Clallam County’s American Rescue Plan Act, the nine-month long academy will be open to 10 local organizations and will offer a stipend to promote shared learning and actionable steps around care and wellness across work teams.

“We are exciting to start this popular learning academy again this year with the help of Clallam County,” said Christy Smith, CEO of United Way of Clallam County.

The Clallam Resilience Project is a community consortium operating out of United Way of Clallam County and has a vision to foster a resilient Clallam County in its residents, organizations, community and systems, representatives said.

“In the ongoing reconstruction from the COVID-19 pandemic, we are all seeking ways to promote healing and become more trauma sensitive, and support a stronger, healthier community,” Smith said.

Clallam County awarded economic support to resume a Collaborative Learning Academy and “its critical role in addressing sustainable, long-term public health gains,” project representatives said.

One of the 11 local agency 2019-20 participants said “I will continue to remind my staff to not assume they know why people make the choices they do; I will take more time with clients to understand their situation and how I can help them.”
