About the orchestra
The orchestra is a group of people from various musical abilities and life stages. This year, several local students have joined the orchestra from across the North Olympic Peninsula. The rest of the orchestra includes adults who are lifetime musicians and others who haven’t touched their instrument in decades. The unifying factor is the love of playing music in our community.
The Sequim Community Orchestra is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to “Perform, Inspire, and Educate.” In addition to the adult orchestra, the youth strings program provides professional strings education to all interested youth. The orchestra maintains an inventory of quality string instruments that youth can use at no cost and graduate to larger instruments as they grow. The organization depends on private donations to fund highly qualified music instruction, instrument purchase and maintenance, and scholarships that make it so that finances are not a barrier to learning to play orchestral music.
