Peninsula College’s Automotive Technology Program received a Subaru Forrester and a Crosstrek last week, through a partnership with Subaru of America.

The vehicle donations, along with Subaru University’s web-based training, gives students the entry-level education that is required of all Subaru technicians.

Students at participating Subaru-U partner schools can gain valuable knowledge of the vehicles’ systems that will better prepare them for employment.

“I am excited to be able to work with Subaru and their dealership network like Koenig Subaru,” Mike Hansen, PC Auto Tech Program Coordinator and instructor, said.

“Having a manufacturer that is part of our program that provides us with newer vehicles to work on as well as support materials such as engines, scan tools, their factory electronic information, and their technician computer based training is extremely valuable,” he said.

“This will give our students the ability to walk right in to a Subaru dealership with the knowledge needed to start their march toward becoming a master Subaru Technician.”

Sharon Buck, the college’s Vice President of Instruction, added, “These types of partnerships make our students more employable and are an excellent way to connect students with jobs in our community, strengthening our overall economic health.”
