OTA to offer free ‘Improv’ class

Entertainment: OTA to offer free ‘Improv’ class

Olympic Theatre Arts, Sequim, is launching a new “Improv” class series for actors beginning Wednesday, April 12, from 6-8 p.m. The initial class will be free to introduce the instructors to the OTA venue and to gauge future interest in the program. Professional instructors Bill Thomas, founder of The Possibilities Group, and Michael Schmitt, Improv instructor at Peninsula College, will conduct the program, entitled “The Places You Can Go.”

“The Possibilities Group provides services nationally bringing Improv into the corporate workplace,” said Thomas. “Comedy and quick thinking are great tools to expand leadership skills and of course acting skills, too.”

According to Carol Willis, OTA executive director, “Our intention is to offer continuous 10-week class sessions, one evening a week for two hours where participants can pay $20 at the door and come as often as they like.” Willis added, “Each 10-week class session will culminate in a live performance on the following First Friday during the Sequim Art Walk. It should be great fun.”

The Improv at OTA inaugural class will be held at the Olympic Theatre Arts Center, 414 N. Sequim Ave. For more information, contact the OTA business office from 1-5 p.m. Monday-Friday at 683-7326.
