River Festival to take place Friday, Sept. 26

The Dungeness River Nature Center will host the annual River Festival on Friday, Sept. 26 at Railroad Bridge Park, 1943 W. Hendrickson Road in Sequim.

The festival is open to the public from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. The free, family-friendly event celebrates the natural and cultural resources of the Dungeness Watershed and offers fun, hands-on educational experiences for all ages.

Visitors will have the opportunity to explore the story of the Dungeness Watershed and the natural resources of the Olympic Peninsula through interactive exhibits, demonstrations and activities. A variety of organizations and agencies dedicated to the conservation and exploration of the watershed will be featured as exhibitors including the U.S. Forest Service, Fish and Wildlife, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), National Park Service, Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe, Peninsula Trails Coalition, Back Country Horsemen, North Olympic Salmon Coalition, and many more.

The River Festival highlights the environmental and cultural significance of the Dungeness River while also connecting attendees to the broader landscapes, wildlife, and ecosystems that make the Olympic Peninsula unique. School groups will attend in the morning, and families, individuals, and community members are encouraged to take part from late morning through the afternoon.
