Drug Take-Back Day

County-wide local law enforcement agencies, including the Sequim Police Department, will participate in the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day sponsored by the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, individuals can drop off expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs for destruction at the Sequim Police Department, located at 152 W. Cedar Street.

Individuals may also drop off vaping pens without the internal batteries for destruction.

Staff and volunteers will be on location to accept the items.

Drugs can also be dropped off during regular office hours, Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The service is free and anonymous, with no questions asked.

The collection service will include both controlled and non-controlled prescription drugs as well as over-the-counter medications.

The Police Department will also accept illegal drugs for destruction.

Syringes and medical waste will not be accepted.

Prescription drug abuse is the fastest-growing drug problem in America, according to a press release about the nationwide initiative.

Individuals are reminded that they should never flush prescription drugs down the toilet or sink drain.

For questions, contact the Sequim Police Department during business hours at 360-683-7227.

Parks Master Plan

Clallam County is updating its Parks Master Plan, which will guide the long-term vision for parks, trails, and facilities across the county over the next 10 years.

It will identify community priorities, needs and opportunities for improving access to residents and visitors.

The county will host a series of Community Forums related to the Master Plan where residents can learn more about the planning process, review early information, and share their ideas for the future.

Each session will include a brief presentation and opportunities to share feedback.

A Community Forum is scheduled to take place in Sequim on Tuesday, Nov. 4 at 10 a.m.

It will be held at the Guy Cole Community Center, 202 N. Blake Ave.
